Here at Steve Smiths
Shooting Ground our head coach is Jack Reed, who is also the owner of the
ground. Jack has been a CPSA coach for over 25 years and has a huge range of
experience and expertise in his chosen sport. As a member of the England
International team from 1976-1995, his main competition fields were DTL (Down
the Line) and ABT (Automatic Ball Trap). His skill at ABT won him the Commonwealth Shooting Federation, European Division Gold in 1976. Jack was also the British Open Champion for ABT during 1980.
Competition aside, Jack also has a wealth of experience in the field with over 40 years of game shooting experience including grouse, pheasant and partridge shooting in some of the most spectacular and demanding shooting estates in England. An enthusiastic shooter of many years, tuition has been an excellent way of sharing this wealth of experience with both the hobby or novice shot. Lessons can be provided for both individual or a group, whatever your standard of shooting may be. We are able to teach a wide range of disciplines (conservatively the best in northern England) using our range of sporting traps such a pheasant, teal or rabbit machines and for clay shooting we also provide facilities for ABT, DTL, Olympic Trap and Universal Trap layouts.
We have a range of equipment available for those without their own, including lightweight guns for younger shooters or ladies. Whatever your ability, clay shooting tuition and equipment can be arranged to suit your requirements. We aim to provide the highest standard of tuition coupled with the most enjoyment on the day and looking forward to giving you the chance to experience this exciting sport at a ground renowned for its expertise and safety! |
